Made of avocados as the main ingredient, guacamole is one of the healthiest dishes to add to your diet. Whether it’s keto, vegan, reduced sugar, paleo, or vegetarian, this dish has your back! The best guacamole recipe, however, should always be simple and use fresh ingredients. With just six ingredients, you can make one of the best and most authentic guacamoles:

  • Avocados: should be ripe and slightly firm.
  • Red onions: add a beautifully balanced flavor to this dish!
  • Garlic powder: I find it easier and tastier to use garlic powder than crushed garlic.
  • Lime: freshly squeezed.
  • Salt: a little bit goes a long way!
  • Cilantro: freshly chopped, please!
  • Tomatoes and jalapeños: I’m not a big fan, but you can add them if you like them!

My Guacamole Recipe!

Making guacamole is one of the easiest and simplest things ever! Start by slicing your avocados in half and removing the pit. Next, scoop the avocados into a mixing bowl and gently mash them until they have the desired texture. I love smooth guacamole with mixed chunks, but it’s up to you! Finally, add the onions, chopped cilantro, salt, garlic powder, and lime juice. Mix everything, and you’re done!

Serving Guacamole

Guacamole is best served immediately. This yummy dish makes an excellent appetizer and crowd-pleaser. Add some chips and serve it as a dip at your next party, or take it to your Cinco de Mayo potluck! You may also enjoy it as a side dish to tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, or other Mexican dishes. Guacamole is a favorite in our house! Not only does it taste amazing, but it also is one of the healthiest snacks we reach for whenever we’re craving Mexican food!

  • 3 large avocados
  • 2 Tbsp chopped red onions
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp freshly chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, squeezed


  • Cut avocados in halves and remove the pits.
  • Scoop avocados into a mixing bowl.
  • Using a fork, mash the avocadoes until desired texture: mushy, chunky, or both!
  • Add red onions, garlic powder, freshly chopped cilantro, salt, and squeezed lime.
  • Mix everything and serve with chips on the side.


Guacamole is best served imediately.
